Stung Atay Hydropower Project, Cambodia

The Stung Atay Hydropower project is located in Veal Veng district, Pursat Province in the southwest of Cambodia in the Cardamom mountain range.

The Stung Atay Hydropower Project comprises a cascade of two dams and power stations. Both dams are composite dams comprising a central concrete gravity section with integrated gated overflow spillway and rockfill dam sections with central geomembrane towards the abutments.

The upper (or 1st stage) dam has a power house at the toe of the dam with an installed capacity of 20 MW. The lower (or 2nd stage) dam of the cascade diverts water in a surface powerhouse with an installed capacity of 100 MW.

Pöyry has provided Independent Engineer services for construction monitoring and inspection of the dam related construction activities on the site in respect of adherence to the design, quality control, material and dam's safety.
